Metallica and Google

April 19, 2009

I picked up the Guitar Hero Metallica game yesterday, totally can’t wait to dive into it.

In other news, Google Images just got really cool. Check out the new features they added.

I love me some Google Images.

Following the heroine death of Smashing Pumpkins keyboardist Jonathan Melvoin in the late 90s, drummer Jimmy Chamberlin was also kicked out of the band for heroine use leaving Billy, James, and D’acry.

A few years later, the Pumpkin’s bassist D’arcy was kicked out for drugs leaving just Billy and James.

James Iha got pouty in 2004 and quit leaving only Billy Corgan.

The band then broke up leaving nobody.

Billy tried a new band and a solo album, but it wasn’t the same.

The Smashing Pumpkins got back together in 2006 with only Billy and Jimmy.

A few days ago, Jimmy got pouty and left the band again, leaving Billy all alone.

Too bad, so sad.

New Facebook Layout

A week or so ago Facebook started a new layout. People really need to stop crying about how they miss the old layout. The site is free, and is insanely addictive. Personally I really appreciate how ever changing the site is. Whether or not you like the current layout or not, you have to appreciate that it’s not stagnant (ahem MySpace).

Elrond vs. Enron

March 2, 2009

Today was the first legitimate snow day all winter long. This morning I watched Enron “The Smartest Guys in the Room” and later on Ashley and I watched Lord of the Rings: “The Fellowship of the Ring.” Both movies deal with absolute power and nothing thinking about the little people.  However, Enron never had a elf such as Elrond!

He’s to be taken seriously.

Enron was a fantastic scam, kudos!

Culinary Art

March 1, 2009

Going out to eat:

I sincerely am not interested in a “chef’s” culinary art.  Their job is to offer me an attractive and consumable package, if the package isn’t appealing enough as-is, then they should accommodate.

Ashley and I went out to eat last night for her Mom’s birthday.  It was this arrogant restaurant in downtown Annapolis: O’Learys.  Yes of course the food was good, it’s not hard to find a restaurant that serves good food.  Ashley asked the waiter if she could swap something out from her entree and the server’s face scrunched up, shook his head and said he would have to ask for the chefs permission.

Who do these chefs think they are? If someone asks for Cheerios with some Tang to wash it down, and it’s available in the back, then there’s no reason not to comply.

What you get when you go to places like O’Learys, is simply the knowledge that your surrounded by people who have money.  Personally, I like going to places where I know the surrounded patrons have less money then me, makes me feel better about myself.

Listentoyoutube.com

Recently Ashley and I went on an extensive road trip. Before leaving I wanted to fill up my iPod with some Tim Minchin, the Australian musical comedian. For one reason or another, Tim Minchin music doesn’t seem to exist in the US.

In my desperation to get my fix I found this really cool website that allows you to pull music directly from YouTube. The website is www.listentoyoutube.com. You simply copy a YouTube video’s URL into this site and it rips the audio from any video and then makes it available to download. The site is free and efficient.

Flock Vs. FireFox

February 16, 2009

About a week ago I started using Flock, the social networking web browser.  If your looking to have your internet world completely changed, enhanced, improved…. Flock most likely will leave you slightly disappointed.  However, despite it not being the Jesus Christ of web browsers, I have officially moved over to it.

Online reviews ofen talk about memory usage and file sizes, these descriptions were worthless to me.  Most browsers work, which brings things down to preference.  Based upon my experience thus far, this is why I prefer Flock:

*It’s prettier version of FireFox

firefox

*It has a neat My World home page

*Despite the social network integration being too busy to benefit from, it creates the illusion that all the sites are one

social

*It does a good job by bypassing sign-in screens for websites

Siphoning the bulk of what’s popular on the Internet into one cohesive portal is no doubt a daunting task, and I don’t believe that Flock has fully acomplished this.  However, so far, this is the most social-networking-friendly browser yet.  And of course the porn works just fine on it too.

Ashley’s Valentine’s Day present to me was a trip to the Maryland Science Center.

It was Charles Darwin‘s birthday!

We enjoyed some 3D dinosaurs in IMAX.

Ashley was mesmerized by a faux tornado.

Reflexology isn’t actually science, it’s magic, so it’s too bad that it was found in the gift shop.

Check out this harp with laser strings.

I went with the wife last night to see He’s just not that into you.  I had such low expectations that I assumed it was going to be poo.  We really enjoyed it.  It was funny and smart, however, the end does betray the message for the rest of the movie.
